I dropped an f-bomb on the Zoom call I hosted Wednesday.
I was in the zone, speaking on something I felt strongly about (yet can’t even remember right now – go figure), and it slipped right out.
One thing I know for sure: dream clients (friends, partners) may LOL when you let your unfiltered self come out to play, but they won’t judge or leave you for it.
Endorphin-releasing language is ONE way we can filter the right and wrong folks in and out of our businesses.
Stories, style, and straight-up, crystal clear “this is who my work is for, this is who it’s not for” lists can work too.
Allowing yourself to be polarizing may feel scary AF (goes against our very human desire to be liked and safe and accepted in a group dynamic), BUT it’s important.
Because the alternative is to hide our ACTUAL selves… basically forever. And for what?
To be clear, I’m not saying f-bombs equal authenticity. You prob won’t see them in my writing often, if ever. I think they’re a lot more fun to SAY than to type. 😁
I AM saying, howev, that if you’ve been holding your breath under the assumption that filtering a meaningful aspect of yourself, your interests, your opinions, your experiences is required for building a community of engaged humans who would love to work with you … it’s time to consider a deep exhale.
The goal of your messaging isn’t to filter yourSELF out of your business. It’s to filter the right people in and out.
You can only serve and support so many people in this quarter / year / lifetime. Why not serve the ones you’ll have the most fun (and create the best results) with?
Give us the goods. Bring the private convos public.
What makes you laugh?
What makes you cry?
Who are you learning from?
What are you watching?
Which humans, causes, organizations have your support?
I’m working on this too, BTW. 🙋🏻♀️
I shared SO MUCH in the early years of my biz – at my current pace, it’ll take a while before my digi-presence feels up-to-speed with *current* me.
That’s okay. We’ve got time.
You’re the boss. You control the flow here.
All I ask is that you let it be YOURS.
Truly. ❤️
