I’VE GOT EXCITING (NBC) NEWS!

Am I supposed to play it cool and pretend this didn’t make my day? Too late.

LOOK WHAT JUST WENT LIVE. (!!!)

Naptime Empires – both the podcast AND upcoming book, A Course About Copy, sweet snuggly baby Dekie, Pearl Harbor, the NPS, AND my best bit of advice for entrepreneurial moms were featured in the “Know Your Value” section of nbcnews.com this past week:

WHAT?

Think we can safely file this gem in the “divine dinner roll” department.

I can’t imagine a more perfect setup:

The author, Rosie, a fellow #naptimeempire builder who has been on my email list for years (hi + thank you again, Rosie!) invites me to do this interview a few weeks ago….

Then it ends up going live the week of my 6th biz anniversary (happy anni to Karen, dream client #1!), JUST as I commit to stepping back up, doubling down on the podcast AND writing the Naptime Empires book?

NOTED. I’m here. Grateful and reporting for duty.

(Episode 60 is ready + waiting for you in your fave pod player, BTW.)

Don’t worry about all this excitement going to my head, though, TESTING:

Shortly after my notifications started blowing up Friday morning, I accidentally dipped my shawl into the (thankfully clean) toilet, aaaand I was back on diaper duty by 4pm.

Hashtag balance.

And truth be told, in my to-do list dreams I sent this to you days ago, so that TODAY I could send you a roundup titled:

“the six most valuable lessons I’ve learned in six years of business.”

Instead, I’m gonna share TWO lessons with you today, because I’m putting them into practice as I write this very email.

LESSON #1: In almost all cases when you’re feeling frantic and behind, it’s MORE than okay to chill the eff out with the hard and fast (usually self-imposed) timelines.

I’ve published more than a few podcast episodes to support this point – but in summary, as my friend Adrienne Dorison says, “We’re not making oxygen.”

Every time I hear her say it I make a silent nerdy point about how technically submarines (where my husband spent most of his active Navy career) kinda ARE making oxygen. But she’s not talking to submariners. She’s talking to biz owners like us. Perspective. Find what works for you in the season you’re in.

LESSON #2: Even if you feel weird about it, it’s worth the effort to to pause and celebrate (or at least be present to / grateful for) your wins.

Whether it’s a flashy-pants media feature, the first podcast you’ve published in three months (ahem), a new dream client or customer, or the sweet new loveseat you found on clearance….

Take a sec to ROLL AROUND IN THAT GOODNESS.

You + your wins (big and small, biz and personal) are worth celebrating.

So that’s your challenge for today, should you choose to accept it:

1. Check out the article (you can easily share it here from my FB page).

2. Before you check out for the weekend, think of one of YOUR wins from this week and (yes you know it’s coming) tag me in your Instastory @nikkielledgebrown so I can celebrate with you!

I’ll get my emojis ready and meet you over there.
