ARE YOU A \"REAL\" ENTREPRENEUR?

Do you love business for business' sake?

I actually don't.

There was a point when I thought I did.

But then we moved to Texas, I took my foot off the metaphorical gas, and realized my inspiration in those first few years wasn't actually about business itself. It was about what I was able to create through my business.

Connection (with new friends, clients and students all over the world while my husband was serving mostly under the sea), creativity (through writing, speaking, doodling, designs, and decision-making), and contribution (financially, socially, and to my family's future and lifestyle).

If I loved business for business' sake I'd be naturally inspired to build, sell, buy multiple businesses.

If I loved business for business' sake I may even agree with this WILD reel I saw recently from Shark Tank's Mr. Wonderful, captioned "If you're a real entrepreneur, there is no balance."

Spoiler: It ends with him saying, "in the end, the only thing that matters in life is money." 🤣

I actually LedOL as I listened because it's so very extreme.

Surely he wasn't serious?

Whether he was joking and polarizing for entertainment or shock value or not (that's up to him and his values!), I'm definitely not a "real entrepreneur" by this definition.

And I'm 100% okay with that.

Lately I've been mentally rebranding my "business" to my "body of work." Feels more accurate.

I'm inspired to think of what I can create in terms of books, workshops, messages, connection and lightbulb moments with my clients and community.

I love and am grateful for business a powerful vehicle for all of THAT.

If you're wondering why I'm talking more about creativity lately, that's why.

Supporting my clients with prioritizing their creative projects *amidst* life's unexpected (and also very expected) twists, turns, and responsibilities inspires me.

Books, podcasts, keynotes, slide decks, proposals, programs, and more.

There is SO much wisdom ready to be shared by folks in our corner of the internet - they just need a little help organizing their brilliance.

That's what I love to do.

Like Marie Kondo for your mind, I love the mess!

It's why I've opened up one-off clarity sessions for the first time in years.

It's also why I recently rounded up up dozens of creativity-focused #onherterms episodes - so we can have an on-demand playlist for our resistance-clearing pleasure.
