I’M HAPPY. I’M THANKFUL. I’M LIVING MY PURPOSE.
AND THERE’S NOTHING MORE MOTIVATING THAN THAT.
“And let us consider how we may spur one another toward love and good deeds.” – Hebrews 10:24
LOOK, FRIEND. I’M NO SAINT.
I’ve eaten a grape at the grocery store before paying for it. I recently watched a full episode of Scandal while my toddler was in the room. And if you ask my handsome husband, he may tell you that I can be a bit of a B sometimes. (Shocking, right?!)
Well it’s true. I’m helplessly imperfect. And I ain’t tryin’ to hide it.
I’m also not trying to hide the fact that I believe in God. I share this because as a believer, I’m called to love and serve EVERYBODY, regardless of what they believe. So that’s what I’m gonna do. I’m also called to give, even (especially) when I don’t feel like there’s “enough.” So I’m gonna do that too.

Update: Speaking of transparency – I want to clearly note that I recently deleted the photo of the students from the Santa Marta school that was included in my PoP impact report. Also deleted the three well photos featuring the community members in Uganda. I’m pretty sure but not 100% that both Holden Uganda and PoP would’ve gotten waivers from each family / guardian as they worked with the communities, but either way – it doesn’t feel right to share their images here when *I* didn’t meet and discuss with them directly. File under “unlearning white saviorism.” I’m sorry for any harm or discomfort sharing the official photos may have caused the first time around and am committed to not repeating this action. Also worth noting: we ended up raising $5k towards school #2 then donated my fundraiser to a client’s school, so I’m no longer actively raising funds with PoP. Beyond THAT, I find myself cringing a bit while reading the copy above, but keeping it till this page can get a proper refresh. Thanks for being on the journey with me <3
GIVING BACK IS BAKED INTO MY BUSINESS PLAN.
I’M COMMITTED TO GIVING AT LEAST 10% OF MY INCOME TO FOR-PURPOSE ORGANIZATIONS I BELIEVE IN.
In 2013 we were able to build three wells with Holden Uganda Foundation.
And in 2014, we funded a SCHOOL. (YES, a whole SCHOOL!!)
In January I publicly pledged to raise $25,000 and fund a school with Pencils of Promise, and thanks to the investments of the first 200+ ACAC dream students and generous donations from friends, family, and supporters, WE DID IT.
Construction of the Santa Marta Preschool + Primary School was completed in February 2015, just in time for the first anniversary celebration of A Course About Copy:
Funding for school #2 is already underway.
